Duke University biomedical engineers developed MAPS โ microporous annealed particle scaffolds โ a hydrogel injected into the cavity a stroke leaves behind. It recruits the body's own immune cells to grow new blood vessels and rewire neural tissue, and after 8 weeks treated mice matched healthy controls on forelimb coordination tests.
