๐ฌ Cambridge Scientists Tested 39 Sweeteners on Gut Bacteria โ Results Were Surprising
University of Cambridge researchers grew 25 species of gut bacteria in the lab and exposed them to 39 different sweeteners, both natural and artificial. Many sweeteners slowed the growth of key gut microbes, and the effects got even stronger when combined with certain medications like the antidepressant duloxetine. The researchers note this was a lab study and not yet tested in humans, so conclusions about direct health effects are premature. Do you pay attention to the sweeteners in your food?
