๐ŸŒŒ Hubble celebrated America's 250th birthday by photographing a star cluster almost as old as the universe

NASA released a new Hubble image of globular cluster NGC 6426 on July 4th, a dazzling ball of hundreds of thousands of stars sitting in the outer halo of our Milky Way. At roughly 13 billion years old, it formed not long after the Big Bang itself โ€” making it one of the galaxy's most ancient structures. It is one of about 150 globular clusters orbiting our galaxy, each a relic from the cosmos earliest era. Hard to imagine celebrating 250 years when your birthday photo is 13 billion years in the making โ€” what is your favorite Hubble image?
