On Sol 1,907 of its mission, Perseverance's Mastcam-Z camera pointed skyward about 40 minutes after Martian sunset and captured Earth disappearing behind Phobos in a rare occultation. From nearly 195 million miles away, our entire planet was reduced to one tiny dot before blinking out behind a moon just 27 km across. NASA says catching the alignment took careful planning and a bit of luck. How surreal is it to see home reduced to a single pixel?
