Researchers from Hebrew University of Jerusalem discovered a never-before-seen behavior: woodlice (pill bugs) form enormous synchronized circular processions of up to 5,000 individuals under artificial streetlights at night. Light shining from directly above creates a circular illuminated zone that the creatures trace along the boundary โ and the spiral only kicks in once they hit a critical density.
