β¨ World's First Photonic Time Crystal Can Reshape Light in Trillionths of a Second
Scientists from Γcole Polytechnique, CollΓ¨ge de France, and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf just published something wild in Nature: a real photonic time crystal that can dynamically flip how it interacts with light in mere trillionths of a second β no previous device could do this dynamically. The trick is modulating the material's optical properties through time (not space), using an ultra-intense terahertz laser. As a bonus, it cuts energy loss of trapped light roughly in half.
