A firmware routing error in a cryptographic support library weakened the randomness used to generate seed keys on Coldcard hardware wallets, turning supposedly air-gapped Bitcoin into a searchable target โ and attackers drained around $38M from roughly 500 wallets. The exploit surfaced at the start of August, rattling confidence in hardware wallet security just as BTC markets were already on edge. If you own a Coldcard, check for a firmware update immediately.
