โ 1,178 AI Employees โ Including Dario Amodei โ Sign Letter Asking US to Pace AI
A statement called Pacing the Frontier published July 28 asks the US government to build tools to deliberately slow automated AI development before recursive self-improvement kicks in. It was signed by 1,178 employees from OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google DeepMind โ including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI chief scientist Jakub Pachocki. Crucially, they are not calling for an immediate pause, just asking for the steering wheel to be built before the engine runs away. Should the government have a say in how fast AI develops?
