π‘ SpaceX Just Launched Satellites That Beam Broadband Directly to Your Phone β No Dish Needed
AST SpaceMobile launched its BlueBird 11, 12, and 13 satellites on a Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral on August 5, and these are no ordinary comms birds. With antenna arrays more than 3x larger than the first generation, they deliver broadband internet directly to standard smartphones at speeds up to 200 Mbps β zero special hardware required. The company now has 13 BlueBird satellites in orbit as it builds out a full space-based cellular network. Do you think satellite internet will eventually replace ground towers in rural areas?
