โจ Scientists Generated Quantum Entanglement from Plain Sunlight for the First Time
Researchers at the University of Ottawa and Max Planck Institute used a solar concentrator to funnel sunlight through a nonlinear crystal, producing polarization-entangled photon pairs with ~94% fidelity โ no lasers needed. Published in Optica, this challenges the long-held belief that quantum entanglement requires precision laser equipment. It opens a path to more energy-efficient quantum communication for satellites and deep-space missions. Could sunlight-powered quantum networks eventually blanket the solar system?
